Tarte Energy Noir palette REVIEW and swatches

Let's take a break from all of the lip balm reviews! Today's review is on a palette. I am quite surprised that I actually purchased a palette because I tend to like buying either individual shades or just dig into my collection. I have so many palettes over the years that I am pretty sure I can find a shade that works for any look. Palettes are usually very difficult to buy because they are preset. You may find you like half of the shades, and then the other half goes to waste. This palette, however, did surprise me in that I actually used all that it had to offer. The item I am referring to is the Tarte Energy Noir palette.

Tarte Energy Noir Palette, Sephora, $26 (on sale!)

I was pleasantly surprised to find this palette on sale on Sephora's website. I purchased it about 3 weeks ago and didn't think too much of it. I found the shades to be neutral enough and mainly matte, which is what I normally wear. I don't do too much eyeshadow, but I found that eyeshadows are great to line my eyes with because they get so oily. Most of these shades will line my eyes just fine.

When I played with the palette, I found myself really liking all of the shades and pigmentation. Tarte has usually been my go-to mid-range priced blush brand. The few eyeshadows that I have gotten from them in the past hasn't wowed me very much. This palette actually made me want to try more Tarte eyeshadows! As you can see, the swatches above are fairly pigmented with one swipe of application.

Note that this palette does come with a mirror, but no travel sized brushes. The packaging is very sturdy and doesn't easily leave finger prints. Also note that there is a plastic film that has the names of each eyeshadow/blush and can be removed.

Application/Texture: All of the eyeshadows (9) and one blush is very smooth and easy to pick up. They are also very easy to apply.
Staying power: I used a couple shades to line my oily lids and they stayed all day. There was some smudging near the 5th hour, but it just softened the look a bit. After 9 hours, I still see my eyes lined.
Scent: None detected.
Pigmentation: Fairly pigmented! The blush was the only thing that didn't seem pigmented, but I think it just blends into my tanned skin. Once my skin color lightens up a bit it will show up more.
Overall: I really enjoy playing with this palette and the long lasting eyeshadows were a big plus. The shades were all up my alley and were so easy to apply. I can see myself using this a lot and will definitely bring it on vacation! For $26, this is a steal!

Hope you found the review helpful!
