Charlotte Tilbury Modern Matte Pillow Talk Lipstick REVIEW and swatches

I've been an increasing fan of Charlotte Tilbury's products. I first started with her Multi miracle glow cleansing balm, which got me to checking out her makeup products. One of her most famous items is the pillow talk lipcheat. I don't really use lipliners so I never purchased it, but when I caught wind of this being offered in lipstick form, I paid close attention for Nordstrom's release. This lipstick is offered through her site, but I personally wanted to go into stores to swatch it first.

Charlotte Tilbury pillow talk lipstick, $35

Pillow Talk is a shade that is universally flattering on all skin tones, which is why it is so popular. I tried on this lipstick and it is an awesome 'my lips but better' shade. It is matte, but doesn't feel drying or wash me out. I especially love how simple it is and does not require much touch ups. The tube that it sits in is gorgeous. The shiny copper/gold color with the ripples make it look expensive but also retro.

Application/texture: Easily glides on and sits nicely on the lips. Does not feel drying or sticky. I almost forget I have it on sometimes!
Staying power: This lasts 3 hours on me.
Scent: It has a sweet vanilla scent, but goes away quickly.
Pigmentation: It is fairly pigmented. Though it is a nude-ish shade, it shows up well on my pigmented lips.
Overall: It is a great product at $35 because it goes with everything. It is flattering on all skin tones and does not feel drying despite being a matte. It is also very easy to apply and does not need a lot of fuss. I think I found my go-to lipstick of all time!

YSL Volupte Tint-in-Balm in Call me Rose (3) REVIEW and swatches

With the Sephora VIB Rouge spring 2017 sale happening, I finally allowed myself to pick up some beauty products. Most were necessities like skincare, but I did have some fun and picked up other items. If you are interested in the items, visit my youtube video. I didn't do reviews of some items as they are either gifts or not 'swatchable'.

The item I am very excited about today is the YSL Tint-in-Balm. They come in many colors, but all of them have an outer core of sheer balm followed with an inner pigmented area. The result is a moisturizing product with some color.

Application/texture: The application is soooo smooth. It glides on like a lip balm and leaves it shiny with a hint of color. It also feels very light on the lips.

Scent: a fruity fresh scent that dissipates quickly after application

Staying power: This lasts about 2-3 hrs before I need to apply again for moisture.

Pigmentation: This does not show up very well on my pigmented lips, but does change the color slightly.

Overall: I really like this balm. I am more of a balm person than a lipstick person. However, some hint of color never is a bad thing. With the gorgeous packaging, I will definitely try a different shade if I had to treat myself to something nice!

Marc Jacobs High and Fine Eyeliner collection REVIEW and swatches

No one likes running eyeliners, and finding that perfect eyeliner isn't always easy. I am here today to share a product with you that lines my eyes perfectly and stays put. I am talking about the Marc Jacobs Highliner and Fineliner. Both of these products glides nicely on the lids and stay put all day. They also come in an array of colors so you definitely can find something that suits you! This particular set comes with 4 shades and 2 sizes - it is a great starter kit if you have never tried eyeliners from Marc Jacobs Beauty.

Marc Jacobs High and Fine Collection, $29
Sephora and Neiman Marcus (http://bit.ly/2ntZH0B)

The smudge test (applying, letting dry, and rubbing with my fingers) showed that all of the shades stayed on pretty strongly. Obviously, I wouldn't rub my eyes this hard, but if it doesn't come off from my hands it probably will stay on my lids.

I have oily lids so I tend to line my eyes with powder. Powder allows absorbance of the oil and takes longer to break down. Both of these eyeliners are strong enough to stay for 12 hours. I really like that they are easy to apply and come in different sizes. The fine eyeliner allows for very precise lining and the highliner is great for giving more volume to the eyes. I like them both!
Did I mention these were also waterproof? Waterproof products generally work amazing with my oily lids and you don't have to worry when you travel to more humid or rainy areas.

Application/texture: The application is super easy. You twist up the pencil and just glide on. No tugging or sharpening required!
Scent: None detected.
Lasting power: About 12 hours, depending on the weather.
Overall: I really, really like this eyeliner. The nude shade really allows for tightlining and opening the eyes while the black shade is an overall awesome eyeliner. I would definitely recommend this set, especially for less than $30!

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Nail Polish in Plush Blush (234) REVIEW Swatches

I love pink polishes. The more pastel and light the pink is, the more I swoon over them. As you might imagine, after a while I would have every possible shade of light pink polishes! I was pleasantly surprised that this pink polish has a bit of sheen to it. It isn't a cream and not metallic, but something right in between. It looks gorgeous!

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Nail Polish in Plush Blush
Target, $9.99

Application/Texture: Like all other SH Miracle Gel Nail polishes, this one was smooth and easy to apply. It took 2 coats to get an opaque look. It wasn't goopy with the layers.
Staying power: This lasted 4 days without chipping on me. I did have a SH gel top coat.
Overall: I really love this shade. I am a bit biased since it is a light pink color, but it you like something just a little bit different than a baby pink I would highly recommend!

Clinique Honey, Honey Lip Set REVIEW and swatches - black honey

First post in the new year! It has been a while, hasn't it? It has been crazy during the holidays and then I got sick. Glad it didn't all happen at the same time, but nonetheless I am back for a review. I have definitely slowed down in my posts because I have slowed down in the purchase of cosmetics. It has been more skincare, but those are quite hard to review because everyone's skin is so different! In any case, makeup-wise I have been going back to tried and trues. When you find something good, you stick with it!

Today, I am reviewing a many people's tried and true item. Though new to me, I can see why it is on a lot of people's favorites. I am talking about the Clinique Black Honey almost lipstick. This lipstick/balm has no gimick or fancy packaging. It is very moisturizing and gives just the perfect tint to your lips that can be built up. It is also very flattering across most skintones!

Clinique Honey, Honey Lip set, $25 at Sephora
The set includes the famed Black Honey almost lipstick as well as the Pink Honey almost lipstick. Then each of those shade also comes with a round container that has a lipscrub on one side and a lip balm on the other. I found the lipbalms and lipscrubs ineffective. It was difficult to use and I don't see why the lipscrubs should have any color. It makes clean up much harder and messy. The lip balms do not have any color and I didn't take a photo of the swatch as a result. It is moisturizing, but I think other lip scrubs and lip balms will work better.

The almost lipstick, however, are quite nice. It is moisturizing and smooth to apply. It feels a lot more plush than other lipstick, but still give you a bit of color that can be built up.

Application/texture: The texture is more balmy than lipstick. It is easily spread across your lips when you rub your lips together.
Scent: it has a slight lipstick flavor to it, but nothing too strong.
Staying power: The color last about 2 hours and the moisture last 3 hours. It doesn't become necessarily dry after 3 hours, but it just doesn't feel moisturizing anymore.
Overall: The set sells for $25 and includes 4 items. When you consider the almost lipsticks on their own is $17 a piece, this set is a great value! The current almost lipstick packaging looks more updated and pretty in their silver packaging, but this one works just as nicely! Though I wouldn't pay for the lipbalm/lipscrub combo, at a few more dollars in this set I wouldn't mind keeping it in my collection.
