Essie Yogaga in Pilates hottie and Yogaga REVIEW and swatches and comparison

I was surprised to find Essie's Yogaga collection at my local Walgreens since I haven't heard about this anywhere. I was looking forward to the Fall 2012 Stylenomics collection, but instead this popped up first. I was able to take a photo of the Yogaga display, but note that there is a bigger display at other stands that includes two additional polishes.

I purchased two shades from this collection: Yogaga (left) and Pilates Hottie (right)
13.5ml/0.46 fl oz, $8

Yogaga: a grayish nude. Almost like a stone color.
Pilates hottie: A creamy pale white with a hint of lavender

Swatches:

Left to right: Pilaties hottie, Yogaga, Pilates hottie, Yogaga

Pinky and middle: Yogaga
Ring and index: Pilates hottie

Some comparisons:
Immediately, I pulled Nice is Nice from my collection. I think Lilacism would also be similar, but I do not have the shade to swatch for you.

left: Pilates hottie, right: Nice is nice

Nice is nice (index), Pilates hottie (ring)

As you can see, they are fairly similar in that they are both lavender shades. Pilates hottie is slightly more white based/pastel. Nice is nice is brighter in lavender.
I thought Essie would come out with more deep colors for the coming Fall, but I can't complain since I do like pastels.

Application: Both Yogaga and Pilates hottie were easy to apply. There wasn't any streaking, but two coats makes it look very nice. You might be able to get away with one coat of Yogaga if you apply carefully.
Dry time: Fairly fast. The two shades were like most of Essie polishes.
Staying power: I haven't worn these shades for very long, just a little over a day. However, the polishes do seem to stay well like other Essie polishes, which I tend to get at least 3-4 days before any chipping.

Overall: I guess I am biased towards these colors because I like neutral and pastel shades. Pilates hottie is similar to Nice is nice, but I like it better because it is more pastel based. Yogaga is a grayish nude, which won't bring out the yellow color in my skin. The polishes were easy to apply and dry time was fast. I wouldn't say these are my favorite in my collection, but they are definitely nice colors to have.

Do you have any shades from Essie Yogaga collection? Are you planning on getting any of these or will you wait for Stylenomics in the Fall?

    1. Glad to hear that, Jan! I think Pilates Hottie is a nice muted color, but still pretty.

  2. I have Yogaga on my nails right now! But I also put a light coat of Set in Stones (by Essie) on the tips, along with a Seche top coat and I love it! Its been about a week since I did them, and I must say tha it has held up really well. I think that Yogaga is a great color, and the Set in Stones just gives it a little something. But this will for sure be what I'll be wearing for Fall.
